I was born in Hollywood and moved to Van Nuys when I was 7 .... my memories are of the very end of the 60's & mostly remember the 70's ....driving to Hollywood via Ventura Blvd and always on the lookout for the Batmobile which was parked in a lot of the Car design place (when I was little lizard, I thought Batman lived there as it was butted up to the hill, mountain to me ) The freeway was on the left, and I would look for the giant cross on top of the hill.....new my aunt lived by the Capital record building, everyone had pictures of the big eyed kids on their walls and the dogs playing poker...yes everyone smoked, in hospitals, grocery stores and we were left alone a lot....my favorite memory is the Giant billboard of David Bowie's Diamond dog album...I thought it was a real Dog man.

This is awesome, Liz! Or do I call you "Little Lizard"? 😂 You were able to witness an amazing time. I can only dream of this! When I went there years ago, my imagination ran wild. I was in DTLA to see some band and was anxious to go visit the sights. I know the 60s were more than sights though. You were able to witness part of the lifestyle!

As always, great read Shannon. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the 60s. I was born in 80 so I also could only get the feel for the decade thru music, movies and old tv shows. Now I need to go re-watch that thing you do and look up Once upon a time in Hollywood. (I’ve never seen it!)

You're welcome, Jilly! Since I was born in 76, I was able to witness a little bit of the leftovers of the 60s through my aunt and uncle's homes as I felt like it was walking into the 60s, even though their houses were furnished for the 80s with pieces of the 60s lingering around the walls and tables. And you definitely need to watch Once Upon a Time in Hollywood! Tarantino has called it a love letter to LA back in '69. He holds true to Tarantino storytelling, but you have to pay attention to understand the story. I had to watch it about 3 times to really understand where he was going with it. But I think I was more fascinated by the look of the film. 😂

That’s so cool that you were exposed to that. I’ve always been told I have “an old soul” I was not quite as exposed to the older stuff. I think my extent was listening to breakfast with the Beatles with my dad on Sunday mornings. I love all the 70s rock, 80s hair bands have my heart but love all genres. I couldn’t find that movie on any of the platforms I have but I think I’ll cave and buy it on Amazon Prime, it will give me something to do during the middle of the night when I should be sleeping.

OMG I remember breakfast with the Beatles! I’m not sure if you can rent it anywhere, but I haven’t recorded on some Fox channel. So I watched it over and over all the time. If I find a version that you can rent, I’ll share it with you.
