So… by “branded barrels” do you mean you covered the ones you’ve had for 25 years with all the station stickers you found in the back of the van? Just curious.
I literally laughed out loud at this entire thing. And I can’t even explain it all to my husband who’s been asking me “what’s so funny?”But I understand.
It's funny you bring this up because when I was going through my final read-through, I second guessed myself about the branded kegs! I mean, THEY ARE branded, but they're usually branded with sponsor of the company that donates the kegs. Yet, we do tie branded KUPD placards on the kegs so people know that it's one our kegs. Yet, somehow I couldn't figure out how to make that part funny enough. I knew I should have gone back and refined it! 🤣 Thanks for reading this, Nat! I'm so glad that this confused your husband based on your behavior while reading it! And I know you understand it from a whole other vantage point too! 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 You're amazing! 🙏
This was my favorite podcast of yours yet! I still remember that very first keg hunt as well. I was living in Ahwatukee at the time with my parents. I had to work that day at 7 AM, but I took I think about an hour and a half to search for kegs before I had to get to work. Obviously, I didn’t know how legendary this whole event would become, but I soon learned I had to request that day off of work going forward! That very first time I remember calling my mom after I got to work telling her about the keg hunt and to go out looking for one particular keg that was hidden just a mile from our house as she was driving home from her overnight nursing job. She told me later that day she did stop and looked around and they were at least 10 other people there are searching for the same keg. She thought it was such a fun idea, even though she didn’t find anything. Now, all these years later, my entire family knows this is my favorite event of the year! I never did find that damn elusive keg of my own… But now that I’m with John Gordon, I get to help HIDE the kegs. And that is just as much fun in a completely different way 😁🙌🏻
I remember the year hunting with Roni....and she had that KUPD window decal she designed on her truck....we had people doing sharp turns and following us(we had a line) waving, honking and yelling because they thought we worked at the station....We had more fun driving aimlessly in Tempe and Phoenix throwing people of course than actually trying to find a keg. ..😂😂😂
You are the absolute best for checking this out! Thank you so much, Denise! Also, isn't amazing where you might find a keg? 😂 Thank you for sharing this out! Happy Easter to you as well! See you at a show soon! 🫶🏻
Hahaha I was listening to this at work and I was laughing my ass off! Your first red bull of regret 🤣🤣 How did I miss you with coffee ☕ lol 😆 I to called Kenny's "tip hotline" number that year hahaha 🤣 good fckn memories. One year I heard John say there was a keg with pies at a rock spring. So last minute decision we hiked it all the way to Rock springs and lady asked us if we were there for the keg because we were looking like a bunch of crackheads lmfao she said we missed it by 5 fckn minutes 🤣 we stayed for the pie 🥧
That was such an amazing and funny story. I have not had a chance to do the Keg Hunt yet. Life and work just ends up getting in the way for me and before I know it, it's the week of the keg hunt and I have forgotten, again, to request that day off. I just need to bite the bullet, find out when Easter is and request that Friday off so I can join in on the fun.

Btw… if anyone would have given away my phone # at the station… D-E-D. And fun fact… I never climbed ‘A’ Mountain.
