Radio Personality, Shannon Hernandez

I’ve spent 25 years on the air at 98 KUPD—creating moments that connect with people. Whether it’s interviewing music legends or creating fun quips over the radio airwaves, creating these moments has been a true highlight in my life and career.

But beyond radio, my life has been a series of reinventions—navigating shifts in creativity, career, and purpose.

That’s what Frequency Amplified is about. It’s a mix of stories, insights, and lessons on growth, resilience, and making sense of the changes life throws at us.

At the core of this newsletter are three pillars that define me: Rhythms, Rotations & Reflections—a phrase inspired by my time in radio and the natural cycles of life.

Rhythms – The habits, values, and creative pursuits that drive us.
Rotations – The transitions, reinventions, and unexpected shifts.
Reflections – The lessons we take from the experiences that shape us.

Some seasons of life flow effortlessly, some are full of static, and others feel like dead air. Frequency Amplified is about navigating all of them with a mix of personal stories, humor, and real-life lessons.

About Me

👋 I’m Shannon Hernandez. You might know me from 98 KUPD, where I’ve spent decades on air, talking with artists like Vinnie Paul (Pantera), Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne/Black Label Society), and Sully Erna (Godsmack), and creating memorable experiences for listeners.

Beyond radio, I was a high school English teacher for a couple of years before joining the broadcasting ranks. That desire to teach never left me and I’ve taught content creators and business owners how to grow their podcasts, spoken at industry events like Podcast Movement, and been featured in Loudwire, Blabbermouth, and Phoenix Magazine—where I was named 2021’s Best Talk Radio Show Host.

This newsletter brings together everything I’ve learned—about music, creativity, reinvention, and figuring out what’s next.
